I’ve been wanting to share this project for SO LONG my head almost exploded in literal Scanners-fashion.
In just a few days, Douglas Farmer, AKA “The Astronaut” will land back here on earth and he will be available for you to give him a good home!
Douglas Farmer spent 21 years training for a 30-second spacewalk in the outer rim of Mars. But while floating in the atmosphere, all communication blacked out, and Douglas returned, well…changed. You can read some diary entries from Douglas’ wife HERE that give some more ominous insight into what Douglas experienced, but that’s NOT why I am sharing this newsletter! Nope! What I REALLY want to tell you is that I teamed up with the appropriately astronomical masters of art-toys, TOY QUBE, and together we created a collectible memorial toy celebrating Douglas Farmer, my favorite astronaut!!
On sale MAY 10th at 1PM EST at toyqube.com (and many other vinyl toy stores online) and limited to 200 figures, “The Astronaut” is based off of an original painting and story by me, stands 10” tall, is cast in extraterrestrial ooze, and will cost $130. And, as an extra special space-bonus, an exclusive “Day One Edition" (cost $145) will be available ONLY ON MAY 10TH AT TOYQUBE FOR 24 HOURS ONLY! The Day One Edition will come packaged with…well…something special! But don’t worry, we didn’t actually include the space-virus that Douglas may or may not have picked up in space (OK, spoiler alert, it comes with a 10" x 8" print of Douglas in his evolved state (see the print below, only available in this Day One Edition).
Anyway, I am beyond ecstatic about this (inter)stellar figure. Toy Qube is known for their insane sculpts and paint apps, but this has blown me away since the moment we started working on it together.
So yah, make sure you pick one up on May 10th HERE AT TOYQUBE!!!! And like I said, I would like to stress that it does NOT come with a space-virus included. I kind of promise!
